Tick Talk: What To Know About Ticks & Tick-Borne Diseases! [Expand]

It’s important to know about ticks when you’re out in nature on Long Island! Walking, hiking, biking….even sitting on the grass, can put you at risk for Lyme disease and a host of other diseases carried by ticks. Dr. Anna-Marie Wellins, Clinical Assistant Professor, in the Stony Brook School of Nursing, Advanced Graduate Nursing Education Program, and a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center, will be speaking about the types of ticks found on Long Island and their respective diseases.  Symptoms, diagnostic tests, and treatment options will be discussed, and tips on preventing tick bites will be shared.  All attendees will be able to receive a free copy of the Resource Center’s Tick Disease Handbook and a tick removal kit.

First-Year Students will also be able to earn their Expand Event Credit by attending this workshop.

Be Sure to RSVP to ensure you receive your Free Tick Handbook & Tick Removal Kit!
