VP of Student Life

Meet the Candidates!

Victoria Komenkowski

Hi!

I am excited to announce my candidacy for Vice President of Student Life and to continue enhancing campus experiences for every student!

Throughout my time at Stony Brook, I’ve loved being part of Student Life, whether working behind the scenes for club events or organizing campus-wide programs. Seeing students excited, engaged, and creating lasting memories has been one of the highlights of my experience.

Since the start of my junior year, I’ve served as a SAB Programming Coordinator for the Undergraduate Student Government, leading major events like the Diversity Festival and Comedy Show. My journey in the Stony Brook community began in my freshman year, and since then, I’ve held roles such as EOPSA Vice President, Success Coach, STAR Ambassador, and Audio/Visual Technician. Through these positions, I’ve had the opportunity to mentor students, organize impactful events, and advocate for inclusivity on campus. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, organizational, and communication skills—skills I will bring to the role of Vice President of Student Life.

As a co-chair for both the Diversity Festival and Comedy Show, I had the privilege of leading these events from start to finish. I worked closely with my team to ensure each event was engaging, inclusive, and a true reflection of the diverse interests and talents within our campus community. From coordinating with performers and vendors to managing logistics and promoting the events, every detail was considered. Seeing students come together to celebrate and enjoy these events was incredibly rewarding and reinforced my passion for creating memorable campus experiences.

I’m committed to expanding beloved traditions like Wolfieland, Spooky Brook, Roth Regatta, Comedy Show, and Brookfest while introducing new traditions that will further enrich student life. There is nothing more fulfilling than watching students come together to celebrate, laugh, and connect at events I’ve helped bring to life. My goal is to continue bringing even more passion, innovation, and energy to every experience we create.

I believe in fostering an open and inclusive environment where every student feels informed and empowered. I will continue to form committees and provide opportunities for students to join, plan, and contribute to events. I’m also committed to ensuring that every student’s voice is heard and valued. By reviewing past feedback and actively engaging with students through open forums, surveys, and conversations, I will ensure our initiatives reflect the needs of the student body. Together, we can build a student life experience that is shaped by the voices of those it serves.

I would be honored to serve as your Vice President of Student Life.

Sincerely,

Victoria Komenkowski

Hey Seawolves!

I’m Sebastian, and I’m running to be your next Vice President of Student Life because, let’s be real, weekends at Stony Brook can feel way too empty. College should be more than just classes and assignments. It should be a place where you actually want to stay, have fun, and feel connected. My goal is to bring more life to this campus, especially on weekends, so that staying here isn’t just an option, it’s something you’re excited about. But more than that, I want to set the blueprint for student life at Stony Brook for years to come by building a culture where weekends are filled with opportunities and students feel a true sense of belonging beyond the classroom.

Here’s what I want to do:

More weekend events that actually make you want to stay. Right now, most of the fun events happen on Thursdays or Fridays, and a lot of organizations avoid hosting things on weekends because they know fewer people will be here. That needs to change. I want to bring more exciting weekend events with cool prizes and fun incentives to make staying on campus the better option. Whether it’s movie nights, yoga and meditation sessions, arcade nights, or poker tournaments, there should always be something to look forward to. Weekends should no longer be the time to leave campus but instead the time to relax, have fun, and connect with others.

Bigger events happening more often across campus. We already have some great events, but they don’t happen nearly as often as they should. I want to increase the frequency of large-scale events, not just in the SAC and Staller, but all across campus. Residence halls, outdoor spaces, and other gathering areas should all be used to create a more vibrant student life. More concerts, more cultural festivals, more themed campus-approved parties, and game nights should be happening on a regular basis rather than just occasionally. By working with clubs and organizations, we can ensure that something exciting is always taking place, no matter where you are on campus.

Stronger connections between students and their future. Networking events on weekdays can be tough to fit into a busy schedule, and approaching faculty or professionals can feel intimidating. I want to collaborate with the Career Center and other professional departments to bring networking events, mentorship programs, and casual faculty-student mixers to weekends. This will create more opportunities for students to build relationships with professors, professionals, and their peers in a way that feels natural and stress-free.

This isn’t just about adding more events. It’s about creating a lasting culture of engagement, excitement, and connection at Stony Brook. I want to set the foundation for future student leaders to continue growing student life, so that every Seawolf, now and in the future, feels like they belong here, both academically and socially.

If you want to see more energy, connection, and fun on campus, vote me in for VP of Student Life!

Make your voice heard. Let’s build something that lasts.

Go Seawolves!
